NSL OFFICIALLY CHANGES ITS NAME TO THE NCL - NATIONAL COMMUNITY LEAGUE

May 15, 2023

Founder and Commissioner, Dennis Berkholtz, announced today that the NSL is officially changing its name to the NCL - The National Community League.  The name change allows Wii bowlers of any age to compete in the league bringing together senior communities and individuals with IDD and those living in ARC Communities.

2023 NCL Fall Championships will begin the week of Aug 21.  The first two weeks of bowling will determine individual and team averages.  Bowlers must bowl and scores must be turned in to the league office.  Team rosters and bowler names must be sent to the league office by Friday, Aug 18.

A CHANGE IN LEAGUE STRUCTURE - All registered teams will compete in one league - The NCL, The National Community League.

League competition will begin the week of Sept 4.  Registration will open on the NCL website on June 15.  As in the past the competition runs for 7 weeks in conference bowling followed by 1 to 4 weeks of playoffs in a ‘one and done’ format.  Top 16 teams and ties make the playoffs in 7 divisions based on team average.

Hope you will join us.  Wii HAVE A GREAT THING BOWLING ON!!

The 2022 NSL season featured 214 teams from 25 states representing 59 communities with 1.047 registered Wii Bowlers.  We started the 1st season of the NCL with 9 communities representing 31 teams.  The NCL features Wii bowlers with intellectual and developmental differences representing the Autistic Community, the Down Syndrome Community and Special Olympic Athletes.

The NCL features senior bowlers from all walks of life and all levels of abilities.  We feature bowlers from CCRC’s, Independent Senior Living Communities, Assisted Living Communities, Affordable Housing Communities, Senior Centers, VA Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Senior Meal Programs and Recreation Centers.  The League features Senior Wii Bowlers with disabilities, bowlers in wheelchairs and legally blind bowlers.

BASIC RULES - Bowl in your community.  No traveling is involved.  Four (4) bowlers to a team.  A team roster can have up to 4 substitutes making for an 8 team roster.  We recommend a team have a minimum of 5 registered bowlers.  All teams are led by a ‘coach’ who is responsible for organizing the team(s) and keeping an open line of communication with the league.  The coach is also responsible for posting team scores on the NCL website each week.

The league provides participation certificates for all bowlers as well as certificates for conference champions.  Winners and Finalists at the National Championship level receive NCL Etched Glass awards.  We also name and honor a Senior Wii Bowler of the Year and a NCL Wii Coach of the Year.

The NCL DOES ALL THE WORK - OUR BOWLERS HAVE ALL THE FUN!
